Capital Kids Cooperative provides quality early childhood education in the heart of Newtown

We’re a small community based, not for profit, parent cooperative with fantastic teacher:child ratios

Currently we are licensed for 30 children which includes 12 under 2's. We're a mixed age centre and provide education and care for children ranging from 10months- 5 years of age. We have an amazing long standing staff of qualified teachers with fantastic teacher:child ratios.

Programmes & Excursions

We offer a range of extra curricular activities to enrich the learning offered at CKC while encourage children to engage with and explore our community through adventures and play.

Kai Cycle

We are fortunate enough to be located right next to community composting initiative, Kaicycle.

Kaicycle is an urban farming and community-scale composting experiment in Pōneke | Wellington. Using regeneration-first principles and the belief that healthy soil builds resilient and happy communities.

”We are on a mission to see communities recycling their organic waste and growing nutrient-dense food.”

This community connection furthers our commitment to educating our tamariki about sustainability and caring for our planet to go beyond the classroom and into the real world where kids can play, interact and engage with the Whenua, and Papatūānuku.

Story Park

An important part of what we do at CKC is creating an environment where play and learning can be shared with parents and the wider centre community.
We use an online learning and communication tool called Story park to share learning moments and important notices with families. This allows us to keep parents/whanau informed and provides a platform for engagement that links home and centre life.

Transitions

Part of our commitment to our whānau and community includes settling new children and their families and supporting tamariki in their transition to a primary education environment.

We understand how big these moments are in yours and your child’s life, and we aim to make these transitions as smooth and stress free as possible. Supporting our families and children as they make the transition in and out of our centre environment is an important part of what we do here at CKC, and we aspire to work with our families and schools to make sure that this change is seen as a positive and exciting new journey.
